Reception

Welcome to Reception
Did you know that scientists have discovered that it takes approximately 400 repetitions to learn and remember something, unless it is done in play, in which case it only takes 10-20 repetitions! How amazing is that! This is why in the Early Years at Dale Hall, we follow a curriculum that is built on our children's interests and needs and that is delivered through play and open ended opportunities for exploration.

We aim to broaden the experiences children have and develop their thinking through carefully planned activities and resources. This is achieved in an environment that is enriching, supportive and safe. Our teaching is inspired by the Reggio Emilia and Montessiori Approaches, where we aim to develop the children's independence, communication and ability to construct their own learning.
We use Class Dojo for much of the communication between school and home, including updating each child's individual profile with pictures of WOW moments and significant learning experiences. We also share weekly updates on different areas of the curriculum, so that you are always well informed of what your children have been busy doing!

Miss Emily Grover

EYFS Leader and Starfish Class teacher

Hello, my name is Miss Grover and I am very excited to be back teaching Reception. I love to teach creatively and enjoy developing children's ideas and interests through play. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family and going on adventures with my niece and nephews. I adore animals and have a very friendly cat called Stripes!

Mrs Emily Severy

Class teacher - Seahorses

Hello everyone! I’m so excited to be teaching in Reception this year. I’m passionate about encouraging and developing children’s creativity and can’t wait to see where our Reception journey takes us. When I’m not teaching, I am kept very busy by my three children! We love going on adventures and exploring nature together.

Mrs Kim Gledhill

EYFS Teaching Assistant - Starfish

Miss Sumner

EYFS Teaching Assistant - Seahorses

You will often find Miss Sumner in the kitchen baking delicious goodies such as brownies and cakes. She also likes to read lots and to spend time with her family and friends.

Mrs Morris

Assistant Headteacher

Mrs Morris loves spending time with her family and has two young boys. They love going on adventures together with their dog, Rafferty. When not busy exploring, Mrs Morris will be found cheering on her boys at football, curled up with a good book or reorganising things in her home or in the classroom! Mrs Morris will be teaching in both Reception classes at various times this year.
