Year 4

Our class reading book for this half term is 'Arthur and the Golden Rope'
Homework Expectations

We try to keep this to a minimum at Dale Hall, believing time spent with family and joining in with other activities is equally important.

However, it is essential that children do engage with what is set, especially given the extended period of learning these pupils missed this year.

TTRockstars - Daily for just 5 minutes (little and often is the key to mastery).

Reading - Daily for at least ten minutes, when possible with an adult.

Spelling - Spelling Shed activities.

Thank you for your support.

Our classrooms

We have worked really hard on making sure our classrooms are still inviting and nurturing spaces as well as being Covid Safe. Children have their own places to sit and their own equipment. Displays are updated regularly so they represent the learning that is taking place in the classes. In Year 4 we make our classrooms immersive in line with our Power of Reading book. At the beginning of each half term, the children design and decorate their classrooms and always enjoy the process. We also have a 'working wall' and interactive displays, such as our Reading Challenge Charts.
Mrs Lisa Graham

Hawks Class Teacher (Mon-Wed)

Having spent most of my career teaching older children, it has been a breath of fresh air coming into Year 4. The sheer level of enthusiasm and creativity is contagious. We are lucky to have a magnificent array of books in Year 4: Tutankharmun's story, The Ice Bear and Wild to name a few. They all take us on wonderful journeys into different cultures and are gateways into exciting new worlds. Being able to combine English, Art, DT, Geography and History in completely immersive environments means that Year 4 is a truly inspirational year. It is also a pleasure seeing our children developing and refining their independent learning skills to be the very best learners that they can be.

Mrs Paula Parrish

Hawks Class Teacher (Thurs-Fri)

Hello everyone
I am excited to be teaching in Year 4 again this year. I am job-sharing with Mrs. Graham so I will be in Hawks on Thursdays and Fridays. I am looking forwards to our fun and interesting curriculum and going on our learning journey together.

Mr Adam Glover

Eagles Class Teacher

I have been teaching now for 17 years and looking forward to returning to year 4 having taught in year 2 for the last 5 years. Year 4 is a really awesome year group as the children really develop their independent learning strategies and have the confidence to explore new topics in greater detail. Having looked at the year ahead I am really excited by the topics we will be covering and it should be a lot of fun.

At home I love reading, climbing, rugby and growing things at my allotment. I try to bring these enjoyments into teaching whenever I can.

In Year 4, our Teaching Assistants are Mrs. Hearsum and Mrs. Trett
